Lisa and Phil first noticed each other in the winter of 2007. Lisa was a manager at Mark’s Work Wearhouse and Phil was a manager of Canadian Tire (both in the Eaton Centre). For almost 3 months they never actually spoke to each other, they just stared and smiled at one another. There was a joint entrance, where they both had service desks on either side. The two of them would constantly make excuses to go to the computers just so they could see each other to smile at one another. To this day Lisa and Phil still argue about who was the one staring at who! They use to make excuses to see each other, like walk through one another’s store, etc. Lisa use to call him her Canadian Tire boy to all her friends and coworkers because she didn’t even know his name.
Finally one morning they were both in the store around 6:00 am, and Phil poked his head through the store entrance gate and asked if Lisa wanted to go for a coffee sometime. She agreed and he said he’d be back to get her number - Lisa said he never came back. Finally after about a week or so Lisa marched up to him and gave him her business card and told him to call her, and so he did. They went for coffee that week and from then on there hasn’t been a day that they haven’t talked to one another. They took things slow and didn’t officially start dating until end of July, 4 years ago. When Phil asked Lisa to be his girlfriend he took her to a theatre downtown Toronto, and after the movie outside on the theatre balcony is where he asked her. He took her to the same theatre for a date one time, and after the movie took her outside onside on the balcony and in front of a street full of people asked her to marry him. So very cute!
Lisa and Phil were great to work with! We had so much fun, and through the whole thing Lisa was so excited to see the pictures. She would be like ‘aww this is cute, I can’t wait to see them!!’ whenever we got to a new location (backdrop) for photos. Well Lisa, I hope you and Phil like the sneak peek! Can’t wait until next June for your guys special day to capture some more adorable memories! Enjoy!
Lisa loves butterflies… they hold a very special place in her heart, so she wanted to incorporate them - she had the dress and accessories, I think she looked beautiful!
Nate and Sarah met in grade 9, they had a few of the same classes together. Sarah’s first impression of Nate was ‘I can’t believe how tall he is!’ It’s very true… that was my first impression too hehe. They were friends all the way through high school, but from about grade 11 onwards Sarah had a crush on Nate. In grade 12, Nate asked Sarah to prom, but they weren’t dating … yet! In April 2003 they started dating .. about a month before prom. On New Years Eve 2009 they were celebrating in Toronto and Sarah hadn’t been feeling so well most of the day… her birthday is January 1st and just 20 minutes before midnight, Nate proposed to her! Needless to say, she felt a whole lot better after that! Sarah was still a student finishing up her clinical placement, so the Wedding plans were put on hold, but now they are both so thrilled to be getting married next August and I couldn’t be happier for them both and to capture their special day! :)
Nate and Sarah booked with me during February. I was giving away to one lucky couple a free engagement session if they booked their Wedding during the month of February. Sarah was so excited to hear that Nate and her had won! So we booked an engagement shoot for the warmer weather and we sure got warm weather! The last few weeks in July have been super hot, which makes for muggy, sticky and bugs … but it didn’t matter. These two were so adorable, so in love .. that we had a blast! We captured some great shots with some GORGEOUS summer light that just glows around them. Seriously I am in love with summer light, it’s my absolute fav. and I make clients chase it if need be, like I literally will run up hills for it! It’s so worth it in the end, cause you get some great photos… like these below.
Enjoy the sneak peek, and come back next August to see Nate and Sarah’s gorgeous summer Wedding!
One of my favourites… she’s just so content in his arms! Very sweet!
Samantha and Glenn have known each other for over 6 years. They first met at Swiss Chalet where they both worked, they became friends first and then started dating. Samantha taught Glenn to skate the first winter they were together at an outdoor skating rink in Oshawa. Glenn took Sam back to that same skating rink after four years of being boyfriend and girlfriend, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. He knew she was the one for him and these pictures prove just how much these two are meant for each other. So happy and in love!
Their engagement session was full of laughs, cuddles and kisses… oh and maybe some bugs? okay, maybe a lot of bugs! It was a hot and sticky summer evening, but we lucked out with missing the storm they kept calling for all day and ended up with gorgeous summer light - my fav! These two are so adorable together and I can’t wait to shoot their Wedding next May! Until then enjoy these photos from their oh so adorable engagement session!
Jill contacted me in June to capture their Wedding. She was worried I would have been booked, as she had my card since January and just hadn’t had a chance to call. Their Wedding being on Canada Day long weekend also worried her that I’d be away. To her luck and mine, I was available! I felt so honoured to have been chosen as their Wedding photographer! Jill and I met to discuss the details of their day and she told me stories of Denis (her future hubby at the time ;) and their kids (Jill has 3 boys, and Denis has 2 boys). She told me about her family and her excitement for her new family. She had nothing but smiles especially when she spoke of Denis. He was not there when we met but she showed me pictures from their trip down south in the winter (an early honeymoon), and told me things about him. Jill was such a friendly and outgoing person, I knew Denis would be nothing but the same. After leaving their absolutely gorgeous house - I was very excited to shoot their Wedding!
It was such a beautiful weekend for a Wedding, warm sun and gorgeous lighting. Jill and Denis got married at Royal Ashburn Golf Club (which was where I worked as a banquet server many years ago). Jill walked down the aile with her Father under the summer sun and met Denis, she gave her Dad a kiss on the cheek and the Ceremony began. All Jill could do was stare over at Denis and smile. When Denis was speaking his vows, Jill’s expression changed to holding back tears. It was such a cute ceremony, full of so much love. We captured many beautiful memories that day!
I was only there for 2 hours, but Jill and Denis insisted I stay for dinner which was so nice of them! Also, Royal Ashburn’s food is nothing best amazing so I was very excited to eat!
Thank-you both, my first Wedding shot at Royal Ashburn was a great experience and you two were such a joy to work with! Wish you nothing but happiness for many years to come! Congratulations!
A close friend of mine is the designer for the companySASHA Designs By Dominique. Her name is Dominique Baldassi and she is very talented! I’ve done a couple photo shoots for her now and the latest one we did was back in June. She made a collection of dresses which were native inspired, natural yet fashionable. Check her out on facebook to talk with her and see more from this creative lady!
