Andrea & Adam | Engagement Session

With 2017 quickly underway, I thought I’d finally get back to sharing sessions from the 2016 season. This one in particular is an absolute favourite of mine, these two thought they would be awkward infront of my camera and holy were they NOT! They were ADORABLE! I had such a fun time capturing these two and their love for one another. I am so excited to work with them again for their beautiful September wedding at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club.

These two met in such a unique way one that makes you think, ‘well hey you just never know what could be’. Andrea’s friend always took the bus and kept noticing this guy on the bus and got to thinking ‘Hey! Andrea would probably think he’s cute!’. So one day, she ended up writing Andrea’s number on a piece of paper and just went up and gave it to Adam, from my understanding not many words were exchanged or even at all between Adam and her friend. He looked at the piece of paper and decided to give the number a call, and well the rest is history!

Andrea and Adam decided they wanted to take photos down by the water in Ajax - it was the perfect backdrop for their summer evening session, and we managed to sneak off to a few places that weren’t very busy as it seemed everyone was out that night when we arrived. It was the perfect night with the soft summer glow and just the right amount of bug bites… okay who am I kidding, lol! We were all swatting them away near the end, and I am pretty sure Adam smacked himself and Andrea a couple times during their cuddling kissing moments because of those annoying bugs! Mosquitos are the worse!

Andrea and Adam, I hope you’ve been enjoying the planning and celebrating so far, I am looking forward to working with you two again this year! Let’s hope come September those mosquitos aren’t too bad ;)

2016 Behind The Scenes

Another year has come and gone! It has been another amazing year for K. Thompson Photography and I couldn’t be happier.

Last year I put together a behind the scenes post from our wedding season, and I wanted to continue that tradition each year.

These photos may not be the most flattering, but they are real and in the moment of how myself and my wonderful assistant &  second photographer, Stephanie capture the shots that we do. Please don’t mistake these for unprofessional, we are always in the moment capturing your most important day, we LOVE what we do! However, wedding days are long days and we like to keep things interesting by having some fun and making sure our couples, and their wedding party and guests are having fun too!

I think this year we may have slacked a little on getting our BTS shots though, but we did manage to get a few fun goodies for you to check out! I hope that you enjoy seeing what life is like behind the camera for us :)

Thank you for showing your support and following along - you have no idea how much it truly means to me!

Xo,
Katie

What looks like a sweet innocent cat is NOT. It’s a crazy barn cat that attacked my leg while taking photos of the bride and groom, lol! That’s the groom’s mom from one of my August weddings cleaning up my bloody/bruised leg. Luckily she was a retired nurse - she didn’t want it to get infected, so sweet of her!

Crystal & Gary | Royal Ashburn Wedding

I love a small intimate wedding and this gorgeous June wedding was just that! Held at the gorgeous Royal Ashburn Golf Club, Crystal and Gary said their “I Do’s” infront of about 40 of their closest family and friends. Crystal looked stunning in her Essense of Australia wedding gown. I love how she decided to go with a champagne tone wedding dress - it was absolutely stunning! From the lovely details of their wedding to the adorable smiles and kisses exchanged between Gary and Crystal - their day was perfect from start to finish. I was so honoured to photograph their wedding and loved working with the two of them and their family and friends.

Crystal & Gary - I hope you’ve been enjoying newly wed life and that you enjoy every moment together on this new chapter, all the best for a wonderful life together full of so many more happy memories and many more nose kisses.

Brittany & Shane | Ganaraska Forest Centre Wedding

Well it’s November and that means snow is in our near future…. so I thought I’d finally show this lovely February wedding from earlier this year.

Shane & Brittany are absolutely adorable together, I had the pleasure of capturing their winter engagement photos the year before, and we got hit with much more snow than we had this year so it worked wonderfully for their photos. I knew their wedding would be a lot of fun and a little something different too with the personalities of these two. Brittany wore a gorgeous ball gown dress with just a hint of pink, Shane matched her with a bubble gum pink vest. The pink and grey tones went together beautifully and their whole wedding felt warm and cozy just as a winter wedding should! They also braved the outdoors with a gorgeous winter ceremony on top of a hill just outside their beautiful venue, Ganaraska Forest Centre. Was so lovely and very unique, a wonderful way to begin the next chapter as husband and wife.

This couple was tons of fun and so was their families and wedding party! I’ve known Brittany for many years now and it was such an honour to be chosen as their wedding photographer and capture their beautiful day for them. I wish you two nothing but many more happy years together, full of so much love and beautiful memories!
