In the beginning of the year, I hosted a lifestyle session giveaway and had the oppertunity to work with this lovely family as they were anticipating the arrival of their next greatest adventure!
Amy and her family welcomed me into their home and allowed me to capture them just as they were - a lovely afternoon spent playing and making memories as a family. There was even a small guest appearance of their adorable dog!
I always love chatting to my clients and getting to know them a little more, Amy recently lost her Mom and I opened up and shared about loosing my Dad. It’s tough when you are bringing in little ones into the world and your parent isn’t there to share their words of wisdom or make memories with their grand-babies. But having experienced so many moments where I know my Dad is with us, it helps make things a little easier, at least in that moment. Amy shared a moment of her Mom being with her, she had spoke with a pyschic who explained that her Mom knew she would have a baby girl. They weren’t finding out the gender and sure enough, they welcomed their baby girl this year. How amazing is that?! It gave me goosebumps when Amy told me and I was anxiously awaiting to hear the news of their baby and was SO happy for her when I saw her post a photo of their beautiful baby girl. Grandma definitely sent her! So very special!
This session is definitely a favourite of mine from this year, lifestyle sessions at home are always so warm and cozy, full of so many wonderful memories - your home is where you spend most of your time, what is more special then capturing your family just as they are, your kids just being kids and your house filled with love and laughter.
Thank you to this beautiful family for allowing me to capture them and I hope to capture more memories for you all in the future!
How wonderful it is being a photographer and being able to connect again with those you’ve known for many years. I worked with Rachel at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club and we attended both elementary and highschool together, she was a year older than me but we’ve known each other since we were young and I even have photos of us in Brownies together.
Rachel reached out to me for her wedding photos in spring of 2017 and although I wasn’t able to photograph her specail day, I am so honoured that I was able to photograph photos of these two as they started their family. Those first memories with your new baby are some of the most wonderful yet exhausting times but it is so important to capture them anyway you can because as parents we all know how long some days can feel but how quickly the years really go by.
Congratulations to you both once again! Nora is absolutely beautiful, wishing you and your family more amazing memories to come. The days and memories just get better and better :)
I’ve known Brooke and Devon for a couple years now as their best friends were married in 2016 and they were apart of the wedding party. It’s always fun when I get to work with the same group again and again, and learn more about everyone. I think one of the best things is hearing how long friendships have been formed between people in the wedding party with the bride and groom and stories of how the bride and groom first met and when they began dating. Working with the same faces also means I shouldn’t forget their names lol. When Brooke wrote me I definitely remembered who she and Devon were and I was honoured to work with them for their special day!
They were married in Toronto at a lovely church and reception at Fantasy Farm - such a stunning venue, and the perfect spot for their beautiful winter wedding. Hidden away you wouldn’t even know you were in Toronto with the gorgoues forest scenary that surrounded you. Everything about this day from start to finish was just stunning - the details, dresses, adorably sweet cake topper (a perfect replica of the bride and groom!), the day came together so nicely for these two love birds who finally tied the knot after many years together! Surrounded by their closest family and friends, with a blanket of fresh fallen snow outside, their day was nothing short of a beautiful winter wonderland.
Brooke & Devon, you two are such kind and welcoming souls and the perfect match for one another. I absolutely loved working with you guys and capturing beautiful memories for you both from your engagement to your wedding day. I hope you have been enjoying your first year as Mr. & Mrs. and I wish you two nothing but more wonderful and happy memories for many more years to come. All the best!
Fall is beautiful for all the rich warm coloured trees and leaves freshly fallen on the ground. I know that everytime I’ve done photos with my husband and now family photos with our little girl, I always think for weeks leading up to the session on what clothes we should wear. Sometimes it can be a little stressful though, cause you of course want to look nice but feel comfortable in what you wear so you feel like yourself. I thought I’d share some outfit inspiration for those having their photos done this Fall. Hopefully this will help you get an idea in mind.
1.) Dress comfortable, and warm. Avoid baggy coats, a cozy sweater or dress and scarf is best if matched well with some dress boots/shoes.
2.) Pick similiar colour tones between your outfit and your significant others outfit. Blending well but not being matchy matchy is key. Try to choose colour tones that really compliment one another when side by side.
3.) It’s hard to imagine what your family photos will look like until your outfits are chosen, so sometimes the best idea may be to start with one outfit, for example - maybe one child’s outfit and then coordinate colours to match for everyone else to wear.
4.) Texture & depth are always nice to add to your photos especially when using solid colour tones vs. patterns. Add accesories to give your photos a little added punch. Layering also makes it great on a chilly Fall day. Scarfs, sweaters, collard shirts, necklaces, etc. all help add a little something extra. Please don’t just think about the accessories on your head, or around your neck, think of your shoes too. A boot or dress shoe really goes along way and helps pull the entire look together. OH, and a fur baby is one of my favourite accessories ;) they are always welcome!
5.) Another great tip is to think of your house colours/decor when choosing your outfits. What would look great framed on your wall? Do you want the colours you wear to match within the same colour tones of the room? Or would you like to give a little more pop of colour to a room that maybe needs a splash of it? It’s something to keep in mind if you want the photos to be used to help decorate a room as well.
Hope this gave you some helpful advice when deciding what to wear for your upcoming photo session this Fall!

This lovely couple will finish off my 2018 wedding season with their Fall Wedding this October at the beautiful Royal Ashburn Golf Course. I can’t wait to work with them again, LOOKHOWCUTETHEYARE!
I thought today was a perfect fit to share their winter engagement session from earlier this year, 1) because I am still catching up on blog posts and 2) because it’s feeling a lot like the season is beginning to change… hello Fall, welcome winter! (or okay, not welcome winter!! who enjoys snow really? ITDOES however make for a beautiful backdrop!)
Anyways.. I will quit babbling on now and let you just view these two and their adorable ways below.
