Teddy Bear Tea Party Birthday & Cake Smash

I can’t believe 1 year has come and gone already. Our sweet Bronwyn Bear turned 1 on May 12th and we couldn’t imagine our life without her nor can we remember what life was like before her.

Each day is another day to enjoy every sweet moment with my daughter. Is it just me or when you have your first child, saying ‘my daughter’ or ‘my son’ takes a LONG time to get use too. It’s been a year and I am still not 100% use to saying it, I guess it goes the same for when you say ‘husband’ or ‘wife’ - it had just been myself and my hubby for so many years, that bringing life into this world and calling her our daughter still seems so surreal. Like a dream, but the best dream ever!!

She lights up our lives. Her shy, observing personality, sneaky smiles, and her silly little laughs! I am so amazed by her everyday, I can just sit and stare at her all day long. It’s the best feeling ever knowing I brought this beautiful sweet baby girl into this world, knowing that I am her Mom and get to experience so much joy with her.

We’ve been asked a few times over this past year what we call her, like a nic name of some sort. Well… she actually had a nic name before she was even born. I would talk to her in my stomach and call her Bronwyn Bear all the time. No one knew her name was Bronwyn until the day she was born. Her name fit her perfectly and so did Bear - she literally reminds us of a cute little bear hehe. So now for short her nic name has been B-Bear and we just love it!

I am sentimental at heart, so I wanted the theme of her birthday to be more about her than anything else. So I decided to do a Teddy Bear Tea Party - it was pretty easy to put together, as I had a lot of the items already and just wanted it to be simple and elegant. Before her party though, I did a cake smash session of her just in our living room to celebrate her 1st birthday and I of course made sure to match the theme to her party too.

2018-05-21_0007.jpgA few of these teddy bears were ones we had before Bronwyn was born, that giant one was from costco that I got as a little girl and the two brown ones were during my husband and my first few years as boyfriend and girlfriend. The white one says ‘my first teddy’ on it and was given to Bronwyn from her Uncle Josh (my oldest brother) in the hospital when she was born. The banner was created by myself - I had tons of lace ribbon in my craft storage bins already and got some great deals at Michaels after Easter on the larger pink and white ones. I was inspired from a blog I stumbled across on pinterest - it was super easy to make!
Her adorably sweet headband was created by the lovely Violet Ivy Handmade - her headband matched perfectly to her birthday dress that I found at winners and it was exactly what I had in mind for her.

The cake was made by Yummy in my Tummy - Lisa’s Sweets & Treats, I told her I just wanted a simple cupcake cake and she did such a beautiful job! As you can tell, Bronwyn really enjoyed it - mostly sticking her feet in it, lol!

Ryu of course had to help clean up… notice her feet aren’t as covered anymore….oh these two, they’ll be best friends for sure lol.

2018-05-21_0013.jpgWe held her Birthday Party on her actual birthday since it landed on a Saturday this year and it was so perfect. I was a little nervous at the beginning because she’s such a shy girl, she’s attached to me when theres too many unfamilar faces, she also gets very hangry. So after a little bit of warming up to people, I fed her and she was in much better spirits and played with her friends and family. She was even better once she had MORE cake. This child is good for cake for another year now… seriously.

2018-05-21_0005.jpgWe held the party in my mom’s condo party room (many family events have been in this party room)  - the space worked out great to setup our food tables. My mom made a sandwhich buffet - egg, tuna and salmon salad sandwhiches. People just grabbed their buns and chose what they liked. There was also cheese balls, veggies and dip, punch, ice tea, coffee/tea and a dessert table full of cookies, fruit and a delcious birthday cake for our sweet girl.

The cake was created by the talented CakeWalk Confections in Whitby.  I found a cake with a teddy bear tea party theme off pinterest and wanted something similar - it was basically the main decor of the party. It turned out absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I was so happy and impressed with the entire thing and everyone asked where it was made. It also tasted delicious - light and fluffy! I was just so impressed overall that I am ordering from her again in a few weeks for another family celebration.

Since I am also a graphic designer, I like to create a lot of my own decor on the computer. I quickly whipped up a birthday stat poster to go along with her theme and match her birthday invite I created too. It wasn’t my best work, but I was putting in some late nights getting things ready and I nearly forgot I wanted to make this. My husband and I got Bronwyn two gifts that are pretty special too - one was this personalized birthday book by iSeeMe. I was so happy with how it looked, such a special keepsake (like I said, I am very sentimental!!).

2018-05-21_0006.jpgSince it was a tea party theme - I wanted a vintage style highchair for our Birthday girl to sit in. I borrowed this from a fellow photographer and it was perfect! I can’t thank her enough for letting me use it. It definitely made her party come together perfectly. The 12 month photo board was just a cork board I used for our wedding ceremony sign actually, same with the easel as well.

Thanks for checking out all of the details of our little girls Teddy Bear Tea Party. I loved putting this together to celebrate her, it was the most perfect 1st Birthday for our sweet girl.

Extraordinary Hand Lettering | Pink Lemonade Party

If you have ever had the chance to work with Doris Wai then you will know she is one talented and incredibly sweet human being. If you have yet to work with her, then do so IMMEDIATELY but before you do - check out this absolutely adorable styled session that I had the honour of photographing. The talented dream team behind this was Doris Wai - Love Lettering, Southern Charm Vintage Rentals and Cakelaine

Doris is the Mom to her lovely daughter Melody, and of course having a little girl is very inspiring for all things pretty and pink! This adorable session was perfectly put together as a birthday party theme. We put this session together on labour day weekend in September of 2016 - dodging sun left, right and center all morning, but it came together in the end and looked beautiful in print for Doris’ book, Extraordinary Hand Lettering. If you are a fan of hand lettering - you will want to grab a copy of this book, the tips and tricks Doris shares with you are amazing and so inspring to help your craft of hand lettering grow even more.

You can purchase the book online at Amazon, Chapters/Indigo & Barnes & Noble.
Here is a preview of some of my favourite shots from the session! Enjoy!

Jessica & Matt | Royal Ashburn Golf Club Wedding

Jessica & Matt were married at the beatiful Royal Ashburn Golf Club in February 2017 my last wedding photographed before our little girl arrived. I was 25.5 weeks pregnant shooting their wedding! These two live out in Alberta, but have many family and friends here in Ontario which is why they decided to host their wedding back home. Jessica emailed me and booked online - I met them for the first time during their engagement photos the summer before their wedding and had so much fun capturing their love for one another!

Winter weddings are always beautiful especially with fresh fallen snow. Despite the freezing temperatures, it was such a beautiful day and Jessica looked like a fairytale princess! The winter light and this couples adorable cuddles and smiles, will have you swooning like I was all day long.

Jessica & Matt, I hope you two have enjoyed your first year of marriage and will continue to create beautiful memories and share so many more smiles and laughter between the two of you. You are a lovely couple and I wish nothing but the best for you two, if you are ever out this way again - I’d love to capture more memories for you both!

All the best,

Old Flame Brewery Engagement Session

Lindsay & Brendon are getting married on my birthday this year…. AHH! I’m turning 31 and what better way to celebrate than doing what I love :) I can’t wait to work with these two again, they are such a fun and adorably sweet couple. Lindsay is a photographer herself and it is always an honour be chosen to capture a fellow photographers special moments.

For their engagement session we decided to mix in a little bit of a styled session to work with some talented biz lady friends of mine - Katie of Katie Lynne Hair and Holly of The Purple Peony. When you tell a groom that he gets to do engagement photos at a Brewery…. he’s all in! We first started off with a little more low key casual look at Old Flame and then made our way to a local conservation area to make those beautiful florals really pop that Holly created.

Lindsay & Brendon were full of cuddles and kisses that day, even if they said they weren’t sure what to do infront of the camera… you’d hardly be able to tell! As photographers I think we feel the most awkward infront of the camera, we are always so use to directing others it’s hard to just relax and enjoy our photos being taken… but Lindsay, you nailed it and you two are just so cute!

Looking forward to your beautiful wedding day this July! Hope you are enjoying all the planning and celebrating so far.

Isabella | Durham Region Newborn Photographer

My heart is always filled with so much joy and appreciation for my clients, they trust me to capture their memories through all of their special life milestones. From their engagement to the welcoming of their beautiful first baby, I am always honoured to capture these moments.

This session is one of my favourites because it showed so much pride from this family. I love when I can capture something a little different and you can see below what I mean, Daddy had to show off his little girl in a pretty special way.

Isbella is such a sweetie and I’ve been lucky enough to meet up with her and her Mama for a play date with my little one (we will need to arrange a few more of those too!), she is growing so quickly just like my little babe. It’s so wonderful though to have these photos to remember them this small, each day passes and they become their own little person more and more.

I hope you are enjoying every moment with your little miss, can’t wait to capture more memories for you all in the future!
